So I have been called several times a day by Buisness Verification Service. I spoke to a live person today and asked him to remove my number because I have no interest in paying them $47.00 a month for their service. I was told bu the operator that what I want and what I get are two different things. Now they are calling me every hour.

Business Verification Services - Weird Scam, Not sure their end game...
For the past week or so, I receive multiple calls a day on my business line from individuals and robocallers. The pitch varies slightly, sometimes beginning with a "press 1" robocall, sometimes beginning with a human. But essentially they say they are calling to verify my business listing. They proceed to read off the information they have and ask if it is correct. It's all publicly listed info, so I go along with it.

There are a few really strange things about this scam though and I don't know what they are trying to accomplish.

When asked what their business name is, they tell me "Business Verification Services".

They tell me they "work directly with Google"

They tell me they are receiving conflicting information between Google and Yelp (and other services?)

I have informed severals individuals that they are working for a scam company. Every single time they remain calm and polite while defending themselves, saying they are not a scam. I find their demeanor especially odd, since many scammers tend to get mad and yell at you when called out. The most recent caller listened to me while I explained that he does in fact work for a scam company and should reconsider his employment with them. He even thanked me for the information!

On another call, I played along to see when they would ask for money. But instead, they "verified my info", then hung up.

I can only assume that they are collecting "leads" and sending them to another department or company. But I have yet to actually get them to the "gotcha" part of their scam. Does anyone know what this is about? I'd love any information you have.

P.S. They always call from different phone numbers, none of which come up on Google. One time I called a number back, only to receive an auto-attendant that hangs up no matter what option you press.
