I’ve been seeing a lot of coolant leak and overheating issues on B8/B9 Q5 2.0T platforms lately.

Common failure points are the integrated thermostat housing and electric water pump assemblies.

Broken bolts and thread repair. Nowhere else is a mechanic's patience tested more than it is with broken bolt removal, and its evil cousin, the thread repair. What seems complicated yet easy enough to tackle yourself while drinking a twelve pack of bud light's, on the weekend, or in the evening after work, can quickly turn a bad situation into a life-altering situation in the blink of an eye. If you don't have a background in auto repair, engineering, or precision machining dont even try it. When dealing with either one of these, take them seriously. Only if and only if you have been trained by a professional under close supervision to perform these delicate life-altering procedures should you attempt them on your own. I will add this to one of the chapters of my book. Stay tuned, do-it-yourselfers, weekend warriors, and aspiring young mechanics.
