Our History

Rick & Betty Preston started their business in 1975 on Greenfield Drive in El Cajon, California, originally called Rick's Hitches & Welding. A visionary couple, they saw the need for better options for hitch and tow and struck out to meet that need. Over the next ten years the needs expanded so they renamed the company Rick's Hitch & Muffler.

Rick and Betty realized there was limited service available for RV trailer service, repairs and remodeling in San Diego County. Rick and Betty Preston have been residents in San Diego County for just about their whole lives and East county residents for about 45 years, so they had a good feeling for what was going to be needed in the market.

So on the hunt they went to look for a building that would work with the vision they had of this state of the art facility. After looking around they just couldn't find any pre-built building that would work with what they envisioned for RV Service.

Around 1988 they saw this dirt lot next to a small building on E Main Street in El Cajon, California and decided to build from the ground up what was needed in San Diego County: A leading edge, full service, completely independent facility, So on June 23rd 1989, their wedding anniversary, their vision came true and their state of the art facility opened for business.
