COOLER WEATHER BRINGS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR RECOVERY.
As summer heat eases, cool-season grasses like tall fescue and Kentucky bluegrass can return to more active growth when adequate soil moisture is available.
That makes fall an important time to support recovery and strengthen the lawn heading into winter. A few management details that matter:
-Keep mowing as the lawn grows.
Let growth determine mowing frequency. Maintain an appropriate cutting height and avoid removing more than one-third of the grass blade in a single mowing.
-Pay attention to soil moisture.
Adjust irrigation to rainfall, soil conditions, and the needs of the turf. Recently seeded areas still need consistent surface moisture during germination and continued care as young plants establish.
-Keep fertility intentional.
Fertilizer timing and rate should account for the lawn’s growth, condition, and previous applications. The goal is to support healthy turf with an appropriate amount of nutrition.
At Turfology, we evaluate how each lawn responds to seasonal changes and use those observations to guide our recommendations.
How is your lawn responding to the cooler weather? Are we making a good recovery from all the heat and lack of rain?
