Michigan’s winter months can be brutal on vehicles. From freezing temperatures to salt-covered roads, your car faces unique challenges during the cold season.
> Battery Check and Service - Cold weather puts extra strain on your battery, often reducing its power by up to 50% in freezing temperatures.
> Tire Inspection - Your tires are your vehicle’s only contact with the road. Check tire pressure regularly.
> Fluid Checks and Changes - Antifreeze should be tested and adjusted to protect against Michigan’s lowest temperatures. Brake fluid should be checked for moisture contamination. Washer fluid must be rated for below-freezing temperatures.
> Brake System Inspection - Stopping distances increase dramatically on snow and ice. Have your entire brake system inspected, including pads, rotors, and brake lines.
> Heating and Defrosting Systems - A functioning heater isn’t just about comfort, it’s about safety. Ensure your heating system, defrosters, and climate control are working properly. A properly functioning defrost system is crucial for visibility during those frosty Michigan mornings.
> Wiper Blade Replacement - Clear visibility is essential for safe winter driving.
