A Note From May 1 Race:
Following the conclusion of the May 1 event at Linda’s Speedway, the spectator parking area sustained damage after two vehicles spun through the grass and dirt, leaving deep ruts and tearing out part of the driveway.
While we understand anyone can make mistakes in the moment, this is not harmless fun. There was a true risk of injury to others in the parking area, damage to their vehicles, as well as the same risk to the individuals involved. The area now needs to be repaired at the cost of time and money from the speedway and its employees. Linda’s Speedway is private property.
When the individuals responsible are identified, they could be held accountable for paying damages. We’re not looking to escalate this, but we will take the steps we need to if it becomes necessary.
We aren’t looking to create a dramatic situation. It feels as if we don’t identify the problem, people assume nothing will happen in events like this. If we do mention things like charging for parking or restricting areas, people say we’re punishing everyone or overreacting. The reality is we’re the ones left with the repair costs and the liability, and at some point we have to protect the facility.
The situation has already occurred. What matters now is how it gets handled. We are aware of the vehicles involved and feel coming to us directly is the easiest and most reasonable way to resolve this.
Anyone with additional information can contact the speedway through this page, call 717‑865‑5330, or stop by during normal business hours this week. All information will remain confidential, and any help is appreciated.
