✨Wednesday Wish✨

We wish that everyday could look like this for Tiramisu. Once upon a time her days may have been more like her recent Dog’s Day Out adventure where this photo was taken. Once upon a time her days may have included cars rides, regular visits to a nearby park and endless wiggles in a backyard. Once upon a time she may have been the center of her human’s universe. Once upon a time someone may have called her their baby girl. Once upon a time, trust may have come easy for her.

We don’t know what time looked like for Tiramisu before she was abandoned on our property on a hot summer day, tied to a railing near a road with a note that read, “Sorry, I can’t take care of her anymore.” When staff found her that day it took time to earn her trust and untie her from that pole. She was scared, had severe skin issues and masses throughout her body and displayed episodes of wobbliness. Her initial vet visit revealed that she had recently given birth and that she had several other medical issues.

Over a year has passed since Tiramisu first arrived. In that time she has been getting the care she needs and learning to trust again. A sweet senior girl, Tiramisu deserves to have her days filled with car rides, regular visits to a nearby park and endless wiggles in a backyard. She deserves to be the center of her human’s universe. She deserves to be someone’s baby girl.

This wishful Wednesday, we wish for a very special adopter for Tiramisu, someone without any other pets who is willing to open up their heart to a dog with medical needs. Most importantly, we wish for that special someone who understands that trust can take a little time.

Tomorrow is Subaru's Make a Dog's Day. We're happy to have the The Center for Animal Health & Welfare visiting our service lounge with adoptable dogs tomorrow (Wednesday the 22nd) from 9-11am and 1-3pm. We are helping them to discount adoption fees this month! Let's help them get some of these dogs into their forever homes!

💔Mondays are tough. This Monday is especially tough for the CAHW crew. Tomorrow marks our fifth week without a dog adoption. In five weeks, 30 new dogs have come into our care. Zero have been adopted. Our kennels are full. Our staff and volunteers are exhausted and heartbroken.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please check out our adoptable dogs. If you can’t adopt, consider volunteering. And most importantly, please share. Queso, his friends and the entire CAHW crew thank you in advance for lending a paw in any way that you can!

As part of our partnering with The Center for Animal Health & Welfare this month, we'll be highlighting some amazing dogs and cats. We met Reds in person when we stopped in to the shelter last week, he is one handsome guy!

Not every underdog is a dog. Meet Reds, one of many animals at The Center for Animal Health & Welfare looking for a forever home. One look at his handsome face and you’d probably guess that there’s a list of people wanting to bring him home. The truth is that despite his stunning appearance and an ultra-charming purrsonality, many adopters will look past Reds because he’s a senior - and he’s FIV-positive.

There are many misconceptions about FIV-positive cats, but they are just that. Like other cats, cats like Reds can live normal lives. Most importantly, they need and deserve love too!

Despite being letdown and abandoned outside by his previous owner, Reds has been making incredible progress at The Center, warming up to staff and volunteers. He’s quickly revealed what a talkative love bug he can be. He’s ready for a second chance in a calm, loving home where he will be the center of his human’s universe. While many FIV-positive cats can share a home with both FIV-positive and FIV-negative cats, Reds would prefer to be the only pet.
