This customer brought in his 2010 s550 with the 722.9 transmission with a shifting and limp mode concern.
The customer diagnosed and replaced the conductor plate and valve body; the concerns returned and I started digging into it. We started with a code scan and test drive to confirm the concern, and confirmed harsh engagement with upshifts and downshifts across several gears. Pulled DTCs 0894 & 0732 (2nd Gear Slip). Freeze-frame data caught the input turbine spinning at 4,182 RPM while the output shaft sat at just 1,107 RPM. Next, I Attempted an adaptation for extra confirmation of slippage and my scan tool showed the TCM commanding +2000 mbar filling pressure and 20.0 cycles fill time on the B1 clutch pack. That is the absolute maximum software limit—the TCM was pushing for more pressure to force the shift. Finally, I pulled a fluid sample of the ATF. Pitch black, burnt, and glittered with metallic clutch material shimmer even though the fluid was flushed.
The Diagnosis: The customer’s original electronic failure had likely already burned up the internal B1 brake band and clutch material before they replaced the valve body. The new electronics were working fine—they were just trying to apply a clutch pack that no longer existed! Now we quote a replacement transmission and see what the customer wants to do🔧

Got all of the subframe bushings out of the 190e for sandblasting, reinforcement, and powdercoating. Took a while to get the 35 year old rusted and rotted bushings out but we just hit them with the torch for a while and they eventually popped out 🔥 #190
