Deer are on the move this time of year. Keep these three things in mind when you’re behind the wheel:

1. Stay alert at dawn & dusk. Deer are especially active during these hours.

2. Watch the shoulders. If you spot one deer, slow down and look for others nearby.

3. Don’t swerve. If a deer enters your path, brake firmly and stay in your lane rather than making a sudden maneuver.

Stay alert and drive safe this deer season.

Giving yourself enough space on the road means more time to react when something unexpected happens.

So, what’s the rule? Give yourself at least 3 seconds. Pick a fixed point ahead and count from the time the vehicle in front of you passes it until you reach it. In poor weather or road conditions, give yourself even more room.
