RVers, here's your heads-up: full hookup camping runs through October 11 this season.

That gives you about ten more days on a Creek Site with 30/50 amp full hookups, your picnic table, and the creek right there. October weekdays are about as peaceful as the canyon gets.

After the 11th we shift to fall dry camping through the end of the month, so if you need water and sewer, now's the time. 🚐

It's National Public Lands Day, and around here that's pretty much everything past the campground sign.

The San Juan National Forest wraps around Durango, and Perins Park State Wildlife Area is right in the neighborhood too. Trails, birds, big quiet. That land belongs to all of us, so we all get to take care of it.

Our three rules for a good day out there: pack out what you pack in, stay on the trail, and leave the wildflowers and the rocks where you found them. 🌲

Pretzels, polka, and a mechanical bull. Durango's Oktoberfest is tomorrow and Sunday at Buckley Park, 11 to 6 both days.

Downtown is just 5 miles from us, so you can spend the afternoon in town and still catch the evening light on the canyon walls. 🥨🍻

Quick color report from the San Juans, straight from the Forest Service.🍁

As of their Sept 18 update, the stretch from Molas Pass into Silverton was patchy to near peak, while the lower country around Durango was barely starting. Translation: the gold shows up at the top of the mountain first and works its way down to us.

So if you want aspens this week, point the car north up Highway 550 toward Coal Bank and Molas. Give it another week or two and the color starts creeping into the valleys closer to camp. 🍂
