Education Is Part of the Job

The best part of being a detailer isn’t just making cars look good.

It’s not the cool cars.
It’s not the ceramic coatings.
It’s not even seeing that “before and after” transformation.

It’s education.

If you’re a detailer and you’re watching this, take some notes: educate your clients every time they come in. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been detailing for one year, six years, or 15+ years.

Share the little things you’ve learned along the way. Give them tips. Explain why certain products or processes matter. Teach them how to properly maintain their vehicle and, most importantly, help them understand what they’re actually paying for.

Because an educated customer is a better customer.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of places where customers can walk in and be sold something they don’t actually need—or be charged for services without really understanding what was done.

Knowledge protects your customers.

As detailers, we spend countless hours educating ourselves. We learn about paint systems, coatings, chemicals, techniques, equipment, environmental factors, and new technology. We invest our own time and money to stay current with an industry that is constantly changing.

So why keep all that knowledge to ourselves?

Pass it on.

The job isn’t just to make their vehicle look better.

The job is to make the customer better educated about their vehicle, too.

That, to me, is what being a professional detailer is all about.

Education is key.
