Wintering in an RV can be tricky, but Archer Mobile RV Tech has some winter prep tips to help you ease into the upcoming winter storm. Prevention is the best measure for enduring cold temperatures and potential winter weather in your RV.
❄️ When water is hooked up to your RV, make sure it stays warm to keep your pipes from freezing.
❄️ Use your furnace, as this keeps the underbelly warmer.
❄️ Leave your water heater on.
❄️ Check your propane and make sure it is filled. Only turn on one bottle of propane at a time, so you have one full, until you can get the other one refilled.
❄️ Space heaters can become a fire hazard.
❄️ Wrap all outside exposed water faucets, water inlets, and water hoses. Use a heated hose or heat tape around your water hose.
❄️ Leave cabinet doors open in the bathroom and kitchen where water is supplied.
❄️ Cover windows with radiant barrier. This helps insulate.
❄️ Use a dehumidifier to prevent mold growth.
❄️ DO NOT use the stove or oven for heat! ⚠️
❄️ Have bottled water on hand for drinking, handwashing, and flushing in case your water source gets frozen.
❄️ Check on your neighbors and share this info. Prevention is key.
