Keeping a new technician past year one is one of the hardest parts of running a shop. A new $25 million federal grant is trying to change that math, paying sponsors $3,500 per apprentice, but only as they stick around.

A full schedule is great—but a great reputation is even better.

Our Level 1 Sponsor, Micki Woods Marketing, recently shared an important reminder for every collision repair business:

"We've confused a full schedule with a great reputation."

When business is strong, it's easy to assume customers will always keep coming. But long-term success is built on more than a busy production schedule. It's built on exceptional customer experiences, consistent communication, and the kind of reputation that earns referrals long after today's backlog is gone.

These are the conversations that help our industry grow stronger.

We're grateful to Micki Woods Marketing not only for supporting GCIA as a Level 1 Sponsor, but also for hosting GCIA After Hours, where collision repair professionals come together to share ideas, learn from one another, and strengthen Georgia's collision repair community.

Take a moment to read Micki's post and learn more about the strategies that help shops build lasting trust with their customers.

Thank you, Micki, for your continued investment in both GCIA and the success of Georgia's collision repair industry.

DEG Inquiry 41507 shares information on replacement bedsides that may come supplied with a shipping brace requiring removal prior to installation.

“Any labor required to remove a shipping brace or otherwise prepare the replacement part prior to installation should be determined through an on-the-spot evaluation based on the actual replacement part received and applicable Ford repair information.”

Sponsor Spotlight: PMCLogic

Following OEM repair procedures is only part of the equation. Proper documentation—including accurate paint and material invoicing—is essential to demonstrating the work performed during a safe, quality repair.

Our Level 2 Sponsor, PMCLogic, recently shared an excellent resource explaining how OEM repair procedures and paint and material documentation work together to support a complete repair process. As vehicles become more complex, accurate documentation continues to be an important part of professionalism, transparency, and proper reimbursement.

We appreciate PMCLogic's continued support of the Georgia Collision Industry Association and their commitment to providing valuable educational resources for the collision repair industry.

Thank you, PMCLogic, for supporting Georgia's collision repair professionals as a 2026 GCIA Level 2 Sponsor.

Are you following OEM repair procedures but still missing legitimate paint and material charges?

OEM repair procedures identify what needs to be done. Accurate paint and material invoicing helps ensure the products and materials used throughout the repair are properly documented and billed.

Learn how these two work together in our latest blog.

A utility pole has always been one of the worst things a car can hit. Unlike another vehicle, a pole doesn't move or absorb much of the impact. Instead, the force is concentrated into a very small area, often causing severe damage.
When this Oldsmobile was built, modern safety features were still years away. Seat belts weren't standard equipment, airbags didn't exist in production cars, and collapsible steering columns and engineered crumple zones had yet to become common. Occupants had far less protection than drivers do today.
Photos like this are a reminder of how much automotive safety has changed over the years. Every major advance—from seat belts to stronger passenger compartments—was developed to improve the odds of surviving crashes like this one.
