OK after doing some hard thinking and weighing options. I have come to the conclusion that, trying to do it all by myself is not working. There is way too much work for no pay. The reality is that some customers are ordering parts and not picking up. Which I have thousands of dollars worth. Others are getting parts online and wanting me to install. That is done. I also will not install tires bought someplace else. As the installer I assume all responsibility for the install and anything that happens from that point. Not the store toy bought from. This costs me for insurance. I also can"t match all of the prices online, there is no mark up, I basically sell for my cost. I have done three years of working at basically a loss. Therefore, my work now will be on my own bikes that I will sell. Or service on my previous customers. Being close to 60 now, and body parts failing I feel the need to work for myself. I do appreciate all of the customers that I have grown to know.I will still do some work for previous customers, but on a limited basis. 48 years of wrenching has taken a toll, both mentally and physically. There are so many projects that I want to finish, that it is time to start. So if I turn down work, it is not because I don't want to. It is because my time has become limited and working at a loss does not pay. BTW I know people will say, Man he is charging this much an hour. Which I do. But I am only able to bill that amount about 10 percent of the time.So. Thanks for the business, but all things come to an end. Mine is getting near. Thanks for reading, and I hope some of you wish me luck. Physically and mentally I have had enough. God Bless and keep the shiny side up, and the rubber side down. This may change, but right now, I am whooped.
