Hopewell RV Park Serving the workers travelling in Muhlenberg County

07/02/2026

Our county, Muhlenberg County Kentucky, is named after John Peter Gabriel Muhlenberg. In honor of our nation’s 250th birthday, I present this history of who he was and what he did to help lead in the Revolution that culminated in the founding of our country.

Happy 250 America!!✨💫🌟

Our family comes from the Midwest. Sometimes folks ask us what Kentucky is like. It’s actually a little difficult to describe. I ran across this little video that says it best.

Our RV Park is only a couple miles from the Peabody Wildlife Management Area. It encompasses about 65,000 acres and spreads across three counties. It is reclaimed strip mine area and is now available for public hunting, fishing (in 400 lakes and ponds) and wildlife watching of all kinds.

In the 1960’s, this Bucyrus Erie shovel (the world’s largest shovel at the time) operated to remove the overburden and strip mine the coal. (Can you imagine what Parker Schnabel could do with this thing!?) To get a grasp of just how big this shovel is, there at the base of it by the track is a full size bus.

When the mining was complete, the shovel dug its own grave, dirt and gravel was pushed over it, and it is buried on the site to this day.

Our first campers to use the new sites pulled in for the Mudfest at Gregory Lake last Thursday. Sounds like they had a very busy weekend at Mudfest, but they really enjoyed the quiet retreat of coming back to Hopewell RV Park for the evenings.

Opening all new sites on April 27! We have had wonderful weather for our work and God has truly blessed us this spring by being able to complete these new sites so quickly. We will now have two sites that will be pull through sites, capable of handling even the biggest of rigs. All of our sites are full hookup and we look forward to serving the needs of all.

iF YOU HAVE FRIENDS OR FAMILY IN TOWN OR SIMPLY NEED A STAYCATION, check Hopewell out.
