Throughout history, artists have had tremendous difficulty in separating the art from the business.

When an artist wants to get more eyes on their work, they don’t want to lean into marketing or advertising. They take another class or develop yet another technique. Or they dream of another idea that never comes to fruition.

They torture themselves on the details rather than realizing it’s “good enough,” so let’s make some more money!

Artists are either on an endless journey to perfection or they habitually tell themselves they are always just the artist, nothing more.

The story we tell ourselves is powerful. In the world of hair, this is no different. I’ve met some of the most talented artists in our industry, the ones you would think have it all because the talent is extraordinary. But a story is a story. What do you do when you already get tons of compliments on your hair, but you still feel like it needs a change?

This is true for many highlights. Girls love how “ashy” it is or how blonde it is, but when you see it in pictures or the mirror it looks flat. This can happen when we 1. Over-highlight too many highlights) and 2. When you use too much purple shampoo.

What the hair actually needs is more gold to make it look brighter and more “white.” Isn’t that crazy???????? We are always trying to tone out brass, we forget gold is what makes hair look alive.

We took a baby step towards healthier and livelier color during this service. We did a Face Frame highlight, a root shadow, all over gold/neutral gloss, conditioning treatment (Olaplex), and haircut.

Quarantine has been a tough time for redheads. At Mane Stay, our mission is to keep your hair growing in as beautifully and naturally as possible.

Our beautiful St. Petersburg sun and our warm and comforting saltwater Gulf are not a colored redhead’s best friend.
