Looking for a Christmas present, losi has these on sale until 12/7. There are a bunch of different drivers to choose from... it seems here in NASCAR country these are popular today race and are a low cost way into the hobby... These can be modified as well, but many track race them in what I call a spec style class where everything pretty much has to be ran as it is out of the box...

Why wait for the weekend? With the Losi NASCAR RC Race Car, you can put yourself in the driver's seat and enjoy NASCAR action anytime - in your driveway, in a parking lot, or at your local park. Bring NASCAR racing with you almost anywhere!

Gotta love Phenolic pistons such as these found on a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, even when these things were just a few years old you would find issues with them cracking and such... I'm guessing they were cheaper to manufacture and lasted long enough to get through the warranty period... Reminds me of the plastic upper control arms some vehicles are using today... what kind of "Wonderful" things that make yoi go why??? engineering ideas have you seen when it comes to vehicles?

Something I want to help share with everyone a local mission here in NC called HotWheels for Christ. It is a small family organization, working hard to help reach children and give them hope. This is a really cool mission that gives out a gift bag with a hotwheels car and a few other items and a little bit is scripture at no cost. They attend car shows and various Church events. They attended our Church (Liberty Community Church in Gold Hill, NC) Car Show this year. Check them out / and send them some support!

While my role has changed, and I'm not "turning wrenches" every day anymore I am still involved in the automotive industry. And this was a head scratcher for a little bit and worth sharing as the root cause was not something anyone would suspect...

I am sharing this in case anyone runs into this or a similar issue in the future it may save someone a headache as well as to be a reminder to test your parking brake systems.

Our shop had a 2019 Honda Odyssey Braunability Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle in our shop that we recently sold to a client. Shortly after taking delivery the client noted that the parking brake system seemed to run for an extended period and at times (most times) trigger an “Electric Parking Brake Problem” message. When the van arrived our tech checked for trouble codes and found a C1111-96 indicating a failure in the Right Rear parking brake actuator. Our tech removed the parking brake actuator and was able to manually rotate the mechanism inside the caliper to apply the parking brake, at that point we believed that there might be an internal failure of the actuator causing the motor to overrun. We replaced the right rear parking brake actuator and preformed the reset on the parking brake system. The results were the same. During inspection it was noted that the Right Rear caliper piston would rotate while attempting to set the parking brake and that the Left Rear did not. We assumed there may be an issue with internal parking brake portion of the caliper itself causing this failure. We then replaced the caliper with a reman unit and again same result. Following the diagnostic steps in Honda’s service information would lead us to a path of replacing the VSA module. Before going that route we inspected another 2019 Odyssey he had in our inventory and noted that neither caliper piston rotated while applying the parking brake system. We swapped the calipers and found that the new reman caliper with the original actuator operated properly on our test vehicle and did not spin. At that point we were able to eliminate the caliper/actuator as the problem. Now all that was really left was the wiring harness and the VSA module. Again if you follow Honda’s information they would have you replace the VSA Module. Knowing that we have seen some strange things in the past such as Braun’s 18v489 rear brake line recall where they swapped the rear brake lines right and left during the conversion process on some Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, it got us thinking. Since the parking brake actuator is basically a 2 wire DC motor what if the polarity of the wiring was reversed either during the conversion or during an electrical repair there after? We tested this theory by jumping the connection at the actuator with the test leads reversed and the parking brake system now operates properly.

Anyway just something I wanted to share with you all...

Hey ya'll... Some of you might remember me from the days of Rick Anthony Motorsports, back when I was turning wrenches and was a Vette Specialist. I still love Corvettes and GM performance. However life changes and takes you to new places. Many things have happened in the last decade, Divorce, Career Change, Moving from the.midwest to the south, Marriage, farm life. Lot's of things...

Some might also know my gun channel BigGunner81 which I haven't been making very many videos on lately. Mainly due to the previously mentioned, plus trying to get our land ready to build on.

I'd like to start making some new videos in the future with more content for gearheads/mechanical videos things like that. The videos won't be as much Corvette content as anything with an engine/mechanical repair content.

FOR example, I bought my 1st tractor a late 1960's FORD 5000 with many later model parts on it that I will be doing some repairs on in the future. Or maybe similar things to repairing the harbor freight compactor/replacing the flyhweel. OR Working on my wifes 1968 Mustang, or my 95 corvette etc.. just random things...

It all just depends on time and organization etc. If i can find simple ways to do editing and produce content easier that will help make this happen.

Anyway I will keep you all posted here and make sure to subscribe to VetteTech81 on youtube....
