This horrific incident happened last summer. I do hope the Petition carried enough weight to fire him as well as charge him with a felony, hopefully in that State.

Three dogs died in nearly 100-degree heat, and another became severely sickened, due to alleged neglect by a member of the police force. Demand justice for these fallen animals.

PORTSMOUTH — A dog left in a vehicle with the windows up for several hours died Sunday, police said, and its owner was charged with two misdemeanor crimes.

The Tamworth woman was arrested for the counts of animals in motor vehicles and cruelty to animals.

Portsmouth police said they responded to a parking lot at 100 Durgin Lane after receiving a report of an unresponsive dog in a vehicle. The dog was deceased when officers arrived. The outside temperature was in the mid-70s and the temperature in the vehicle was 125 degrees, police said.

The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals points out dogs die in hot cars each year.

Those in hot weather States year round need to be mindful not to take your pet in your car and leave it there in the heat. Leaving a/c is not a guarantee. The engine can shut down. For those of us living in seasonal States, while the hot summer is over, it's still important to not leave pet in car in direct sunlight. Park in a shaded spot. Keep windows open enough, but not to the point someone can break into car, steal it along with pet. Brutal Winters are not times to take your pets in car. In minutes in freezing weather, frostbite will set in. Happy Holidays to All
