With severe weather heading our way, Justin breaks down essential pre-storm and post-storm safety protocols to keep your dock secure and your family safe.

Key takeaways from today’s emergency episode:
• Loosen Your Cables: “When in doubt, loosen it out.” Never lock down your cables before a storm. Your dock needs slack to float naturally with extreme wind and rising water levels.
• Check Deep-Water Anchors: Ensure you have 10 to 15 inches of slack when pulling on your anchor lines.
• Cut the Power: Before the storm hits, flip the main breaker on shore and disconnect power to the dock entirely.
• Post-Storm Caution: Nothing on your dock is worth risking your life for. Even if your power is off, stray current can enter the water from a neighbor’s dock. If you suspect any structural damage, stay off the dock and call your manufacturer immediately.
