EC Carburetors We are a true boutique carburetor and kart racing shop. We have over 40 years experience. We are the Carroll Ford took E.C. Carroll took over E.C. E.C. Distributing.

Distributing to the next stage of development in not only building on the foundation of great carburetors left by E.C. Birt but reopened it to new markets in racing. Carroll being a karter himself, racing for E.C. for many years, moved up the ranks to building & Dynoing Winston Cup (Sprint Cup) Ford engines for driver Bobby Allison & Robert Yates Racing in the early 90's. This is where Carroll dev

eloped a new intake system he later sold to K&N Air Filters. in 2004 and moved the shop to South 48 in Dickson to Carroll's Tennessee Raceway. Distributing now has its asphalt oval to tune it's karts and a new dirt track for tuning lawnmower racers as well as its own engine dyno. Our new shop also includes CNC machining where we develop new performance parts. Distributing is the one stop shop for most of small engine racing. Distributing in Fall of 2012 became part of the new E Team Corporation. Still operating as it has as E.C.

We now have THREE new camshafts in stock — built for the latest clone engines and modern performance setups.
These cams were engineered with one goal in mind: maximize usable power where it matters most.

Instead of chasing peak horsepower numbers alone, each cam increases area under the power and torque curve—especially at lower RPM—delivering stronger acceleration and improved response for lower clutch or CVT engagement speeds.

Every cam in the lineup is designed to increase torque, but with a different approach to where that torque hits in the RPM range. Because the reality is:
- Peak horsepower is largely dictated by airflow (head, carburetor, exhaust) and tuning
- Most Camshafts prioritize top-end numbers
- But that often comes at the cost of low-speed performance
And that’s exactly where many builds suffer—especially clutch and CVT setups engaging below 3000 RPM.
So we fixed that.

These cams are designed to restore and enhance low-end torque, allowing your combination to still achieve strong peak power—without sacrificing drivability. The result is a broader, more balanced powerband that performs across the entire RPM range.

Why three different cams?Because no two setups are the same:
- Running a restrictive setup and need more top-end? We’ve got a cam for that
- High-flow build lacking torque? Covered
- Want the best all-around balance? We built that too
No matter your combination, there’s a cam designed to match your goals.

New Blog: Reviewing the HD Cast Rod for Honda & Clone Engines

We got our hands on the new “heavy-duty” cast connecting rod that’s been floating around the small-engine world… and let’s just say the results were surprising. 👀

On paper, it looked like a budget-friendly upgrade.
In reality? Missing oil holes, extra weight, and the same old dipper problem that’s been killing rods for decades.

If you’re thinking about running one of these in your Honda GX200, Clone 196, Predator-style builds, or even a Wildcat—read this first. ⚠️

👉 Full breakdown, weight comparison, failure points, and our honest verdict now live on the blog.

It goes without saying, there is not enough good resources for small engine performance fundamentals and education. Your carburetor is arguably the most important component of your engine and when your engine lacks performance or isn’t running correctly, the carburetor is always to blame. As a company that is well known for carburetors, we are targeted for information and troubleshooting which keeps our phones ringing off the hook.

The core issue is not the carburetor itself but your fuel tank. Have you asked these questions or said these statements:
- What does my engine only run on choke?
- I’ve changed or removed my fuel pump(gravity fed) and nothing changes
- I’ve changed jets and it had little to no effect
- I’ve changed carburetors and still have tuning problems
- My engine has problems running or stalls.
- My engine seems to be not getting fuel but the plug is black

The list goes on and on. Before checking your spark plug and reaching for a box of jets you should check your fuel tank vents. You may have an increase in fuel pressure or a vacuum in the fuel system caused by the lack of ventilation. These issues can cause your carburetor to run rich or lean depending which condition you have. Both issues are solved with proper fuel tank ventilation. Check out our blog for all the details and information to resolve your tuning problems.
