Indigo Grove Designs Art in clay, shards, and yarn🏳️‍🌈 Indigo Grove Designs is a sole proprietorship run by myself, eileen storey, out of my home in Dickinson, Texas.

My clay studio is in my dining room, and my kiln is in my garage. IGD has been my passion in Texas since 2002, and originated when I lived in Japan in 2000 and began to make mosaics. I work mainly in hand-built functional pottery and sculpture, but also create wheel-thrown work as well. My tile collages and mosaics are on a smallish scale, but I enjoy creating larger commissions such as kitchen backsplashes and tile installations.

Spent a lot of time this weekend on this piece, which ostensibly is supposed to be almost all black. But the single line of bisque fire tiles, instead of showing up as a lighter brown, took on even more of the white efflorescence from the thinset than I had expected. So the effect is different than I wanted. I don’t feel like I have much time for experimentation right now. Can’t work on it today, so I’ll just grouse about it for a while.

Super excited to announce that these two new works- “Washed Ashore” and “Forgetting That Precarious Moment” were accepted into VAA’s Lucky 13 juried show! Opening will be Thursday, 13 August, at Hardy and Nance gallery.

Finished another one today. I had to go back to the store to get more embroidery floss because I couldn’t find what I already had. Maybe it’s in storage? Anyway, I feel very confident about this one. Haven’t named it yet, will post photos of the finished piece tomorrow. And will be entering it as well as several others into the VAA lucky 13 show. Hope my luck holds!
