Rebuilding carburetors does not take much. A little patience, some photos and good organization. I probably did these two yutes in 3-4 hours. But Paul.. why didn't you do it when you got the car running in the first place? Well, that's just it. It was running and it ran really well. It revved and sounded great but I wasn't driving it under load....

If you know anything about the Jaguar V12 engines, you know they run hot. Hot like cooking in a wood fire oven hot. Hot like it's a dry arid desert and we ain't got no sun block. When I removed the fuel injector rail to get to the spark plugs, a few things became apparent. One, I better take the time to clean the injectors and make certain they sq**rt correctly now that they're off....

Brake pad replacement does not qualify as restoration work but I wanted to write about it anyway. I decided to buy Brembo rear pads for my 2001 Audi S8 with 266,678 miles. I spent about twice the amount of cheap pads but only $10 bucks more than the equivalent ceramic. I purchased them directly off of Brembo's website as I'm trying to use the manufacture site whenever I buy something....

The smallest touches can make the difference. Like having my car parked outside waiting for me as I drove up with truck and trailer. The stance was right. All my work restoring the entire front end suspension paid off. And the fact that it had nothing to do with it. It's the wheels. A larger than stock BBS mesh wheel with 225/60 r15s gave it a slightly aggressive profile....

I can hardly blame engineer Claude Baily who started developed on the Jaguar V12 as early as 1951. But somewhere along the line Jag added fuel injection, an a/c compressor and cruise control blocking any reasonable access to simply changing the spark plugs. It's so bad around the compressor that plugs 1A and 1B often get left behind as some shops/people will cheat by only doing the other 10....

I used the rock-chip touch up method for a big divot. Blend it the best you can, so from 10 feet you don't really see it. I just don't see the car being worth it, at this point, to strip the panel, paint and redo the original pin striping. There are so many other things I need to focus on to get this back on the road. Cosmetically, this car is alright even with me giving it a hammer time.

Seinfeld is running on Comedy Central now. I love it. I thought I wouldn't. But after a splattering of distraction from The Office over the years, I'm digging me some Jerry and the gang. I'm also digging my gold wheels. I've got three sets of them now. One set is the 14" steelies for the BMW Bavaria and the other an old Chrysler set that came on my car hauler trailer....

It started on the trailer but has since moved to my driveway on jack stands per usual. One day I'll buy a four post lift for the garage so access is easier and I can store an extra car during the winter. But until then, I get a nice workout going up and down on the creeper. The shift cable ball joint that attaches to the transmission linkage is, well, designed like crap....

On Saturday, a nice gentleman from the west side of the state didn't budget his time well that day. He showed up at my house at 9:30pm to buy my 1964 Honda CT200 or CT90 as it's commonly known. The '64 was the first year for the bike. It said Honda 90 on it, but was VIN plated a CT200 and went by that name for a number of years....

I did a pretty good job matching the angle in these shots, yes? It's a little habit of mine, matching angles. No, I mean going to ebay to look for Matchbox cars of the big ones I own, and then typically use them as key chains.
