Talbert's Garage

Talbert's Garage Fixing up jalopies and having fun doing it! Started in a rented 2 stall garage in 2005. with over 10 builds from mild to full custom. Never hurts to ask though.

Customization and repair of different things. Don't do much clientele work, but more fix and flip specializing in keeping 90s Jeeps on the road, but will take most vehicles. More of a lifestyle than a business, making cars look good and perform reliably. Full remodel in 2014. Includes set up in powder coating, every day improving a little more.

The boy went and got himself a pickup! Paid with cash he saved up. A Jeep nonetheless! What a solid piece of history. 4 wheel drive, 4.0L 1989 Jeep Comanche. Was a one owner rig, original southern truck with 200k on it. Been sitting for 3 years in a widows yard, finally decided to go knock on the door. Just goes to show, you never know! Stay tuned for more on this project, and to see more Talbert's Garage content follow the Instagram .1450!

Yesterday marked 7 years with my 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona, #1405 out of 4000. A lot of wrenching, burnouts and fun. Every time I get in it feels like the first time. This is one in the fleet that isn't going anywhere!
When I saw my first one in late 2005, I told myself someday I am going to own one. 13 years later I found it, and while a little rough around the edges, it definitely came around.

Garage update: Welded a front receiver tube to the off road bumper on the Cherokee and have had a few successful plows with it. Then the aftermarket radiator sprung a leak, no warranty (picture is of the new one getting installed) The old one lasted a little over a year. Put it all back and the AN fitting for the lower trans cooler line started leaking...so need to drain the coolant and remove the lower radiator hose to get to it, and the weather turned to s**t this week (really need that little shop!)
Progress is slow but steady on the Wagoneer, trying to just get it back in one piece so I can try to get it moving under its own power.
Had some drama where I came really close to selling the Power Wagon(!) full story .1405 Instagram.
Work on the Charger starts soon, some rear end work with axle seals and fluid change, check over for loose or worn parts. Bought HPS silicone radiator hoses and a 160 degree mishimoto thermostat to install followed by a re-tune for the colder stat. And also some small nuisance maintenance items a 20 year old car has.
As always stay tuned! For quick, off the cuff updates check out my Instagram .1405.

Happy New Year from Talbert's Garage! 2025 was definitely a building year, figuring out which way to go and how to get there. A brand New Grand Cherokee, and acquiring property were the big highlights, so can't complain! Stay tuned to see what 2026 brings!

Carl the XJ Cherokee got a new accessory. Add plowing to the ol' boys list of duties. So far it has worked decent. Future plans include to either fabricate a hitch into the off road bumper or to put the stock back on and install a front mount hitch. All this so I can still tow the trailer, with possibly the snowblower in it. Stay tuned!

Big things lined up for 2026! We recently acquired the property next door to us. The house, built in 1900, is too far gone to repair, so it will be torn down in the spring of 2026. The main mission from the go (it took nine years to get the owner to sell!) was a garage/workshop to go up in this space. There is potential right away to turn the back porch into a 21x16 workshop, as it was built like a pole shed with 4x4s. And it was built in the 70s. Would like to do a 28x28, but they know what they want for buildings, and especially concrete, nowadays! As always stay tuned, and check me out on Instagram .1405.

Happy 2025! Talbert's Garage goals for this year....to be better than the last. I now have 2 boys that are interested in cars, so we will see where that takes us. The fleet will more than likely stay the same, with more refinement. Going to try more online presence as well with the boys getting involved. Everything is a slow process as Talbert's Garage, as always, has come fourth compared to my other obligations. As always, stay tuned!

So what's been happenin' at Talbert's Garage? It's been a bit. Well me and Carl the XJ have been spending some quality bonding time together. This last summer, the radiator decided it didn't want to live anymore, after 24 years don't blame it. So it sat... ordered some parts, and things started to get out of hand. Full aluminum 3 core radiator. Then the fittings for the trans lines didn't match. So stepped into the wild world of AN lines and fittings. A bunch of fittings, some useless tool, some lines meant for a Chevy, and some drilling and hacking, got it done! Decided I didn't like the mechanical fan anymore so wired up a electric one, which then needed a controller. Thought while I was in there, fix some of the other aftermarket wiring jungle. So, new auxiliary fuse box and heavy duty battery cable ends. After that whole mess, started driving around again and the damn tailpipe fell off. Since it was 40 in December, why not rip out half the exhaust and patch er' up! Got it all back together and looking spiffy, the muffler decided it also did not like life anymore. Now contemplating the next move, maybe go dumb, cut cat (tabby) and race muffler? As always, stay tuned! Maybe this time won't be a year between posts! Ha! .1450
