Ever wondered what it really takes to move a yacht from the Atlantic to the Gulf and hand it over turn-key ready? Here’s a look behind the scenes at how our brokerage team orchestrates long-range deliveries with precision, safety, and constant communication.
It starts with route strategy. We assess the vessel’s draft, range, and systems to determine the smartest corridor—Okeechobee Waterway when Lake O levels cooperate, Keys route when weather favors the Straits, or selected ICW/offshore legs to balance speed and comfort. From there, we build a weather-first timeline, secure a vetted delivery captain and crew, and map fueling, bridge and lock schedules, and contingency stops. Every step is documented for the owner with real-time updates, AIS tracking, and photo logs.
Skimmable checklist: what we button up before lines-off
- Weather windows and alternates locked with 72-, 48-, and 24-hour checks
- Route and compliance: bridge heights, lock timing, state permits, customs if applicable
- Fuel and range planning with reserve margins and backup stops
- Crew and watch schedules, night-running protocols, and rest requirements
- Mechanical readiness: spares, fluids, filters, belts, and emergency tools
- Safety and comms: EPIRB, life-saving gear, AIS, VHF, sat comms, and redundancy
- Owner updates: daily ETA reports, maintenance notes, and delivery acceptance checklist
On passage, we run proactive system checks at each watch change, document engine hours, and address small issues before they become big ones. At handover, you receive a clean boat, a delivery report, and clear recommendations so your first Gulf run is confident and carefree.
