What You’ll Do:
• Precision Blueprinting: Lead thorough vehicle strategic disassembly and mapping to identify all primary and secondary damage upfront. You will be responsible for meticulously documenting the process with clear, labeled photos and ensuring all digital files are organized accordingly for seamless client approval.
• OEM-Centric Planning: Utilize CCC One/Mitchell to create comprehensive, supplement-free repair plans. We empower you to assist the technicians with disassembly so you can build a 100% accurate file the first time.
• Workflow Management: Act as the "Air Traffic Controller," coordinating vehicle movement from intake through refinish and reassembly to hit delivery targets.
• Parts & Supplement Control: Manage the supplement process with the Action Auto Body team and assist to ensure 100% parts accuracy within practical repair ability before a vehicle ever enters a repair stall.

• Experience: 3+ years in collision repair planning, blueprinting, or estimating.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with I-CAR standards and OEM repair procedures.

Acting as Action Auto Body’s collision estimator/repair planner, you will lead the consumer through getting their vehicle repaired after an accident. The office staff will liaise between the customer, insurance company, or third party, and parts vendors to ensure the repair process is efficient and complete. You must possess strong communication skills to work with our clients one-on-one to guide them through the estimate and repair planning process. You would become an essential voice of Action and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
The Collision Estimator Job Description includes, but is not limited to
Inspect vehicles for damage and evaluate using visual inspection, mechanical testing devices, road tests, and information provided by the customer. Evaluate the necessity and cost of repairs. Assist the Office Manager in collecting insurance estimates after reviewing the damage. Meet with customers to discuss damages, repair process timeline, and costs. Create an accurate estimate that details repair and labor costs. Place work orders detailing part replacements and repairs, and enter them into the work management system. Assist office staff in maintaining customer communication and being available to answer questions throughout the repair process. Assist the office in keeping a record of repair details and completing necessary paperwork. Effectively manage multiple repairs simultaneously. Implement an effective quality check process by inspecting repaired vehicles and ensuring the repair meets the required standards. Provide exceptional customer service at all times and create ongoing relationships with customers.

YOUR RIGHTS AND OPTIONS:
Often, the insurance companies have the final decision in matters we feel are not ethical, legal, professional, or of the best quality. Many consumers want to avoid the added expense of hiring an attorney to research the terms of an insurance policy or the rights of a claimant or insured. That is why it is important to remember that the services provided to the consumer are free of charge by the Iowa Insurance Division (hereafter “the IID”).
How can the IID help? On an annual basis, IID receives some 4,500 queries and consumer complaints, often leading to investigations on insurance claims.
By educating the consumer and guiding them to resources such as the IID, they will learn their legal rights and understand the terms within their policy in greater detail. By sharing this information, the IID will see a greater increase in complaints in the future and seek more disciplinary action against the insurance companies in question. Working with the collision repair shop and the IID will guide insurance companies in allowing the repair shops to complete a quality repair with a proper warranty, versus what some consider economical or cheap collision repairs.

How can you file a complaint and have your claim investigated? Whether you are the insured or the claimant having a conflict with the insurance company’s claim and their estimate, it is easy. First, we recommend calling the IID at 515.654.6600 and addressing your concerns and questions with the Consumer Affairs Bureau (hereafter “the Bureau”). The Bureau can sometimes answer questions about your policy, such as whether you are the insured in the accident, your claimant rights, and what the Iowa Law enforces.
