What Would You Do If Your Car Started Losing Power on the Highway?

That's exactly what happened to the owner of this 2017 Chevrolet Impala. The check engine light came on, and also, the car was losing power unpredictably and jerking at highway speeds.

We started with our inspection process, then scanned the vehicle to find which direction to follow. Modern cars are constantly monitoring dozens of systems, and when something fails, they leave digital breadcrumbs for us to follow.

The High Pressure Fuel Pump Was Failing

Your fuel pump has one job: deliver consistent fuel pressure to your engine under all conditions. When it starts failing, it can't keep up during demanding situations like highway driving.

The result? Your engine alternates between getting enough fuel and starving for it—which feels exactly like the surging and jerking this owner experienced.

Our testing confirmed what the symptoms suggested: this pump was operating below specification. Not giving enough fuel when it was needed.

How We Restored Safe, Reliable Performance

The fuel pump replacement required safely depressurizing the fuel system, accessing the high pressure fuel pump, and installing an OEM-quality replacement that meets manufacturer specifications and following exact torque specifications.

After the repair was performed, cleared the diagnostic codes, performed test drives under various conditions including highway speeds, and confirmed everything was functioning as designed. No check engine light. No power loss. No surging. Just a smooth, predictable performance.
