Understanding a stonebreak.
A rock or road debris hits the windshield at a high rate of speed.
Thankfully the laminated safety glass does its job and isolates the damage.
But now you have a Combination Break.
The dark, or mirroring, rainbow effect that you see is a split and a void in the glass that has air which can and will expand and crack with inclement weather.

One method of repairing a crack is is to drill stop the end. Another way is to make it a riser.
Riser: the method of exposing the end of the crack to come to the surface to begin the injection process with a new surface fracture.
