Clayton brought us his Evo 9 after a rough experience with a previous shop. Despite having less than 1,000 miles on a “fresh build,” the car wouldn’t rev past 5,000 rpm without severe breakup, and support from the company behind the build was nonexistent.
His goal was simple: a reliable setup he could enjoy consistently, with the headroom to make up to 900whp.
Once disassembled, the issues were obvious; damaged bearings, rusted cylinder walls, reused components sold as new, and parts that were never up to the task. Unfortunately, he had to spend more to get it done right, but the second time around, he chose a builder that could deliver and exceed expectations.

On the producing 874whp/536tq through the full exhaust, resonator and muffler, and 930whp/571tq with open downpipe. He’ll be in for an exhaust cutout soon to capitalize on the gains from reducing the exhaust restriction.
