General Winterization Instructions for vessels with ballast tanks and/or ballast bags.

I take the bags out and blow low pressure air through everything.take seats, batteries out.use the expensive blue antifreeze not the pink. propylene glycol has anti corrosion protection to help internal components and manifolds. blow air through hoses, especially when you have a heater and heater core. YouTube videos for your exact engine.for hard ballast tanks add a little antifreeze to the bottom. 7 gallons of good antifreeze is the best protection. Find all plugs and low lying hoses. drain everything. low pressure air through heater hose.dry and clean everything. put everything back together. run good antifreeze until you see it coming out of exhaust. shut down engine and then take care of any hard tanks, remove all bags and put some conditioner on bags. Be careful at connecting points and don’t damage plastic connections. Some need to fog the carburetor and some will take out spark plugs to spray inside cylinders. I’m last off and first on so I don’t. Pro tips. Worth to change impellers often for engine 50-100 hours or every season. Ballast impellers every 3-5 seasons. Spray wd-40 on engine and will look new for 20+ years. It’s time consuming but easy work. I don’t trust shops so I prefer DIY but u can understand why people just pay. Shrink wrap is a good idea.

ps I learned from marinas/shops and know there are amazing techs and shops. Hopefully you have one close by.

Great for cleaning up your hull.

However drape tarps over the trailer as the acid may discolor the surface.

Use personal protective equipment including a mask.

Just a heads up Boston Harbor

Erin is expected to strengthen rapidly this weekend, potentially intensifying to a major Category 4 hurricane. After departing the Caribbean, Erin will set its sights on the East Coast of the United States, with the severity of impacts dependent on its track.

Basic Stuff. Remember when you are overtaking (passing another vessel from behind) you are the give way vessel. If traffic bottlenecks, something suddenly appears, the give way vessel has no rights, lowest on the pecking order.

Gunnison Colorado

What a day... We’ve been working to get clear details on where the algae closure actually starts and ends, but every conversation has brought a different answer. After talking with several more people this evening, each giving conflicting information, we decided it’s best to remove the post until we can sort out the facts.

This uncertainty highlights a much bigger problem: communication at Blue Mesa isn’t consistent, and that leaves the public confused and local businesses caught in the middle when the public goes to them for answers. We need to see better communication at Blue Mesa so visitors, locals, and businesses aren’t left guessing.

One thing we know for sure is that boating and fishing are fantastic at Blue Mesa and with 360° of gorgeous views, you can't go wrong!

Blue Mesa Reservoir

same problem at Lake Powell, Utah/Arizona

UPDATE: The signs were changed to red today! We are working to figure out which sections of the lake this is affecting.

🚨 Heads up! A Toxic Algae sign just went up at the Iola (eye-o-la) boat ramp. If you’re out this way, keep pets and kids out of the East end of the lake.

You can still fish the shoreline, just no wading in the water, and be sure to rinse your catches well with clean water before cooking.

Please, help us spread the word to keep swimmers and pets out of the water.
