If you’ve ever driven past a Camping World, you’ve probably noticed our flags.
Those big American flags along the highway have become something of a trademark for us. But to me, they’ve always meant more than that.
For the past three years, I’ve walked into work each morning and looked up at the flag. I love watching it move in the wind, seeing the light catch it, and just taking a moment to look at it. There’s something about the American flag that can still make you stop and think.
When we remember September 11, 2001, it’s impossible not to think first of the tragedy and the lives that were lost. But when I think about the days and weeks that followed, I also remember something else: how we came together.
I was very young when 9/11 happened, but I remember the flags.
They were everywhere. Hanging from houses. Along neighborhood streets. On cars. On shirts and pins. They became a symbol of grief, but also of hope, resilience, and a country reminding itself that we were stronger together.
Communities showed up for one another. Strangers helped strangers. First responders ran toward danger. People found ways to serve, support, and simply be there for each other.
That spirit of community is something worth remembering not just today, but every day.
Tonight, Camping World of Denton is honored to lend our flag to the Lake Dallas High School Marching Band for a special performance at the beginning of their Homecoming football game. Their program will honor the 25th anniversary of September 11, remember our first responders, and recognize the strength that comes from a community standing together.
For us, this is what Creating Community means.
It means recognizing that no one succeeds alone. It means showing up for the people around us. It means treating one another with kindness, respect, and empathy. And it means using what we have, whether that’s our time, our resources, or simply a flag to help bring people together.
Tonight, that flag that I see every morning will mean a little bit more.
We remember those we lost.
We honor those who served and continue to serve.
And we remember the unity that emerged from one of our nation’s darkest days.
25 years later, we remember. We honor. We stand together.
We will Never Forget. 🇺🇸
