2013 avalanche. No compression on one cylinder. Diagnosed this cylinder to have a burnt valve. Repaired engine instead of replacing. Saved this guy a bunch of money.

A customer states that his car will not go into gear, and it needs a new transmission. I replied to him don't you want me to diagnose the transmission's fault before we just replace the transmission. With this being said, I diagnosed the solenoid as not connected or the windings being faulty. Then, we received authorization to diagnose it further, and this is what I found. The cost of this repair is a fraction of what it would cost if I would have just put a transmission in for this customer. Your average shop would NOT even attempt to repair your engine or transmission just simply replace it. Too many times I hear of engines, transmissions, and rear ends being replaced and still have the same issue; then after spending all that money have to bring it to an dependable, honest, and qualified mechanic to get it repaired because of the unqualified person that is fixing your car. The cars today are so smart and sophisticated. With the parts costing so much, I highly recommend that you choose wisely on who you let work on your vehicle.
