Hey everyone, this is Christy with Liquid Art Detailing.
I want to talk about something I see way too often, and most people don’t understand it until they’re already dealing with the damage.
Matte paint!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's not what you think 🤔
If you own a matte vehicle, or you’re thinking about getting one, you need to hear this.
Matte paint is not just a different look. It is a completely different level of ownership.🤑🤑🤑
First thing, matte paint cannot be corrected. There is no polishing it. There is no buffing it. There is no fixing it later. If you scratch it, it stays. If it etches, it stays. If it gets damaged, you are repainting. That is the reality.
Now let’s talk about real life. Not showroom conditions.
Bug guts hit it. Bird droppings sit on it. Water dries on it. You wipe it wrong one time.
All of that can permanently change the finish. Not temporarily. Permanent.😱
Here is where it really gets serious.
Body shops do not like working on matte vehicles. Not because they are not skilled, but because matte gives them zero room for error.
On a normal paint job, if something is not perfect, they fix it. They sand it, polish it, refine it.
Matte does not allow that.
One tiny speck of dust in the paint, they start over. The texture is slightly off, they start over. It does not match the rest of the car perfectly, they start over.
There is no fixing it after the fact. It has to be perfect the first time, every time. That means more labor, more material, more time, and more money. And sometimes shops do not even want the job because of that.
Now think about resale.
You paid a premium for that matte finish. But if it is not flawless anymore, buyers get nervous. They know it is harder to maintain, harder to repair, and more expensive to deal with. So they negotiate, or they walk.
That premium look only holds value if it still looks premium.
So let’s talk about the solution.
PPF.🫡
Paint protection film is not an add on for matte vehicles. It is not a luxury. It is protection for something that cannot protect itself.
It puts a sacrificial layer over your paint so when life happens, your paint is not what takes the hit.
Rock chips, scratches, etching, all of that hits the film, not your paint. And if something happens, we replace the film. We are not repainting your car trying to chase perfection.
So let me say this clearly.
If you can afford matte paint, you can afford PPF.
Because what you cannot afford is what happens when you do not protect it.
You cannot afford repainting panels over and over trying to get it right. You cannot afford permanent damage that you cannot fix. You cannot afford losing the value of a finish you paid extra for.
Matte paint is beautiful. I love it. But it is unforgiving.
If it is not protected, you are gambling with it every single day you drive it.
If you have a matte vehicle and it is not protected yet, do not wait until something happens.
By then, it is already too late.
