Motorists should use caution beginning today through Thursday, Sept. 19, if traveling east on U.S. 92 (ISB) near I-95 due to the U.S. 92 (ISB) northbound ramp for I-95 being closed for construction. According to the Florida Department of Transportation, beginning at 10 p.m. today, Sept. 17, through 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, traffic from eastbound U.S. 92 (ISB) headed to northbound I-95 will be directed to take northbound Williamson Blvd. to LPGA Blvd. where northbound I-95 will be accessible. Motorists should use extra caution if traveling southbound on I-95 Friday morning as the Florida Department of Transportation opens a new southbound ramp system near International Speedway Boulevard. The change includes southbound motorists exiting sooner for U.S. 92 (International Speedway Boulevard), westbound I-4, and eastbound Beville Road – S.R. 400. The exit numbers - 260A/B/C for U.S. 92, I-4, and Beville Road - will not change. For more details, visit https://bit.ly/2ZPAyk7.

WWII VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT ACQUIRES ORIGINAL HIGGINS BOAT
This acquisition has been in the works for quite some time, and we are proud to finally announce that an original WWII LCVP Higgins Boat is now part of our museum collections. After making a 1,000+ mile journey from Texas to Florida, the 18,000-pound landing craft was lifted off the trailer yesterday; the first leg of our restoration plans for this historic craft has begun.

The Higgins Boat, officially known as an LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel), became famous for the crucial role it played during the D-Day landings, and at nearly every major amphibious operation during WWII. They are often referred to as “the boat that won the war”.

Today, 75 years after the end of the war, there are only nine surviving original Higgins Boats in the United States, out of only nineteen known originals in the world. Ours is one of them. Over the coming years, we will be restoring this exceptionally significant landing craft to its wartime condition and bring our LCVP back to the water where it belongs.

We need your help to preserve this piece of WWII history and save this Higgins Boat for future generations. We've set up a GoFundMe to raise the needed funds for restoration. Contribute to today and do your part to preserve this rare piece of American heritage. Please join us and be a part of this important project. Restoration efforts are urgent and we want to give our nation's last surviving WWII veterans the chance to experience the Higgins Boat one last time.
