This post hits home for me as I can relate to this clients story.
He brought in an Echo CS-352 chainsaw that we suspected needing a new clutch and drum sprocket as the chain would spin at idle and a regular tune-up.
After inspecting, it was determined that the saw had been ran or revved with the chain brake engaged after the clutch springs had broken and therefore got extremely hot and melted the plastic housing behind the clutch.
After explaining to the client, he shared that this saw was a gift from his grandfather before passing to help him get started. I recommended that it would be wise to invest in a used saw instead of putting more money into this one.
He asked if I could help him find a used saw quickly and that he's on a budget. So, knowing I had a comparable Stihl MS 180 C sitting on my shelf, also a gift from my grandfather before passing, that I hadn't used in years, I said I would sell it to him so he can get back to work on a felled tree on his property.
In the meantime, we agreed that I'd find a case for his Echo and once it's fixed I'd sell it back to him.
Being compassionate about sentimental items from grandparents means a lot to me as I no longer have any remaining to talk to.
I'm glad I could help this young man out, that's why I love what I do.
