Storm Update: 2-13-24

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect. Snow will begin between 1AM and 4AM Tuesday morning. A near perfect track is now modeled, with afternoon data shifting models by ~50 miles to a colder solution. Despite concerns with marginal temperatures, enough cold air will be drawn in to create a mostly or all snow solution through CT. The near perfect track will also result in wicked favorable dynamics, and a period of HEAVY snow from 6AM to 12PM Tuesday.

These tight gradient scenarios are tough on forecasters, but there is enough confidence here I feel people should be preparing for higher totals. The shoreline is the hardest spot, and I remain relatively lower in those areas. The immediate coast down to NYC is an extremely difficult call, but I would remain conservative for now down there.

Further forecast shifts are possible through tomorrow night, but I would expect widespread school CLOSURES Tuesday. The storm winds down Tuesday afternoon with snow stopping between 2PM and 5PM. I will not comment on Wednesday school impacts until Tuesday afternoon.
