In honor of Carroll Shelby’s birthday on January 11, we’re sharing the incredible story of this 1968 Shelby GT500 Fastback—a car that truly reflects his legacy.

This Raven Black beauty, the only one shipped to Texas in 1968, was found as a rare barn find, untouched and unrestored. Its original patina, dust, and timeworn authenticity made it a true treasure for collectors.

📜 Highlights of this exceptional GT500:

- Powered by a 428 Cobra Jet engine
- Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission
- Retains its original Shelby equipment, including factory-ordered shoulder harnesses, roll bar, and tilt-away steering column
- Delivered brand new to Texas in 1968, the only Black on Black GT 500 sold new in Texas .

Later Amos Minter purchased the Shelby, and stored it in his grandad’s barn, which was next door to a ranch that Carrol Shelby owned at the time. Amos and Justin revived the Shelby and enjoyed showing it off, before selling the car at public auction.

This car’s story, like Carroll Shelby’s vision, represents the timeless connection between performance, history, and passion. Sold in its original, unrestored condition, it was a piece of history preserved exactly as it was discovered.

Here’s to celebrating Carroll Shelby’s enduring impact on the automotive world and the unforgettable cars he inspired.

Amos Minter’s journey began in 1969 as a hobby, buying, selling, and restoring 1955-1957 Thunderbirds from his own garage. Over time what started out in his garage lead to opening a full restoration facility with the largest selection of Thunderbirds for sale in the world .

Justin Minter, following in his father’s footsteps, worked at the shop throughout high school and college. After graduating from Texas Tech in 1997, he officially joined the business, continuing the family legacy.

For over 50 years, Thunderbirds have been at the heart of our family. Today, we proudly build and sell the most prestigious 1955-1957 Thunderbirds, setting the standard for quality and craftsmanship.
