Wanted to pass along some of the stuff we run into on a fairly regular basis. Boats are pretty much custom and often times one off in their exacting configuration. Here's an example of "bolting on" a part and having issues. The boat was a known good set up with through hull pick ups for the engines and the drives were feeding the intercoolers. We swap from a sport master lower to a V1 Dual Downshaft lower and we now have ZERO water in the intercoolers. Why/how can this be you may ask, well observe the pictures and you will see that the pickup on the sport master is about 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 lower than any of IMCO pick-ups and further back. With an aggressive X this is the difference between having water and not having water. So what do we do to solve this issue? Sure we could rerig and install another set of pick-ups just for the intercoolers but we don't wanna drag more stuff through the water and scrub speed off the boat and we're dragging the drives through the water no matter what so we're gonna make the lowers work!! Weld up the existing pick-up, move them to the bottom of the bullet, scallop the entry and we're in business!! Lotta work to bolt on a lower lol. If these work as they should we intend on having a program for a CNC mill to do this a little nicer and we're also in talks with Imco Marine about offering two different styles of pickups for this exact reason.
