One of the crown jewels of the Pend Oreille River Valley is just a day trip north of Ruby Creek Resort. 💦

Towering 233 feet above the Pend Oreille River, Peewee Falls is the tallest freestanding waterfall in Northeast Washington. It plunges down the dramatic cliffs of Z-Canyon, an area shaped by the construction of Boundary Dam and surrounded by rugged canyon walls, hidden waterfalls and some of the most breathtaking scenery in our region.

Originally known as Periwee Falls, the waterfall was named after a French fur trapper who first settled in the area. Today, it is best experienced from the water, where paddlers can take in the full scale of the falls from below. A newer trailhead and viewing platform across the canyon also offer expansive views from land.

From Ruby Creek Resort, head north to the Boundary Dam Campground, launch your kayaks and spend the day exploring one of Northeast Washington’s most unforgettable places.

Summer isn’t finished with us yet, but have you noticed that first hint of fall in the air? 🍂

We’re soaking up every last warm day on the river while preparing for the cooler mornings, changing leaves, and crockpot meals.

With the remainder of our season fully booked, we’re feeling especially grateful for another wonderful summer at Ruby Creek Resort. If you missed out this year, our 2027 reservation books are open and dates are already filling up. Now is the perfect time to put next summer on the calendar. 🌲

Turns out, waking up early might be one of the best parts of vacation. ☀️☕️

Join us Saturday, August 22 for an evening with Homebrew Stringband, featuring Gary & Alyse Read and Brad Keeler. They’re bringing a fun mix of bluegrass, Americana and old-time favorites to the river, with plenty of familiar tunes to sing along to.

From us, to all of you.

Somewhere along the way, this little place on the river became something pretty special. It became summer traditions, familiar faces pulling into the driveway, kids running for the water, evenings around the fire, and a community we feel incredibly lucky to be part of.

One of our favorite parts of Ruby Creek has been finding ways to bring people together beyond just a stay. We love collaborating with local businesses and creating events for the people who call the Pend Oreille River Valley home. Supporting this community and the people who make it special will always be important to us.

And when it comes to our guests, we’re constantly dreaming up ways to make your time here even better. The little details, the guest experience, and creating a place you genuinely look forward to returning to year after year.

We’re grateful for every stay, every kind word, every recommendation, every collaboration, and every familiar face.
