Fly High my friend! They took another soldier way too early!
The City of Cu***ng joins the Ledbetter family and our colleagues at the Forsyth County Tax Commissioner’s Office in mourning the sudden and unexpected passing of Tax Commissioner Matthew C. Ledbetter on Saturday, June 27th.
Matthew, 59, is the son of retired long-time City of Cu***ng Councilman Lewis Ledbetter and his wife, Barbara. As a City of Cu***ng native and graduate of Forsyth County High School (now Forsyth Central), Matthew was life-long friends with many City of Cu***ng employees and elected officials, including Mayor Troy Brumbalow.
“I’m heartbroken by the sudden loss of one of my best friends,” Mayor Brumbalow said. “Matthew never met a stranger, loved his family and friends, was always going wide open, and transformed the Tax Commissioner’s Office into a well-oiled machine. I love you my friend, until we meet again.”
Matthew had served as Forsyth County’s Tax Commissioner for 21 consecutive years since first taking office on Jan. 1, 2005. After being re-elected in 2024, he was serving his sixth term which was slated to run through Dec. 31, 2028.
Matthew was a beloved son, husband, father, friend, and supporter of the entire Cu***ng/Forsyth County community. In his honor, flags at City of Cu***ng facilities will fly at half-staff this week.
Please join us in keeping the entire Ledbetter family, his colleagues and friends in your prayers during this extremely difficult time.
