Evo stuff - Finally got ball joints back in stock for Control arms. Have one set here ready to go and just waiting on sphericals to show up to assemble more sets.

Mustang stuff - I made a few sets of these Mustang MCS 3point rear shock mounts. If you don’t know, the shock mounts are prone to failure either from fatigue or spike loading at travel limits.

3point mounts tie into the thicker sheet metal, double layered in our case, to add strength to mount and prevent the rocking deflection causing fatigue.

These also move up the mount point to gain an additional 0.5-1” of compression range over stock mount.

Bearings are fk wide series with 7700lbs axial load rating and held in with an interference fit and bearing cap with positive engagement (SSB style on all our spherical pockets). None of the snap ring clearance and potential for movement.

Mustang stuff - the fixed top hat and tight sphericals didn’t give any freedom for the spring to rotate. Steering you could hear the springs popping as they slipped which is super annoying. And lame!

I made a new perch for my camber plates to recess and protect the greased Torrington bearing and so far it’s worked like a charm.

Made some headway on the 2.5” brake duct kits. Got the mounts machined and prepped for anodizing. Also tested ASA-CF ducts, but might switch to PA6-CF for added durability. Plan is for the duct to be a replaceable part, sharing the model for users to print their own.

Mustang stuff: Test drive success! The new uprights are doing just as expected. Steering response difference is huge, and change in steering ratio is very noticeable.

Cliff notes: primary changes with uprights is to correct for 1.5” of lowering, drop steering ratio from 15:1 to 14:1, and increase inner tire clearance 15mm.

Wing mount is also awesomely stiff. It also puts the wing just high enough so no loss in rear visibility.

Mustang stuff: I had the idea to add a joggle to the wing uprights to help stiffen up the mounting laterally. On the Evo the standard mounts are pretty floppy and in normal SSB fashion I wanted to over-do it on the Mustang mounting.

It’s hard to tell in the little clip, but I’m pushing hard. Like most of my weight into it. Yeah there’s some trunk flex and I have a plan for support under the mount, but it’s really rigid as is.

Mustang stuff - Heres the real upright test fit. Need to swap to the 35mm swaybar to check clearance but otherwise it’s perfect.

I’ll post a vid in a bit showing the deflection (or lack of it) in the steering link. First test is static, but solid.

Getting more excited to the difference, gonna be yuuge!

Mustang stuff: Adding the SSB flair to mounting my APR gt1000 wing. This is the wing used on our Evo so it’s not quite as wide as we could use but it’s certainly big enough.

Trying some things with a joggle in the mount to increase lateral stiffness a bit. Also with some recommendations I’ll work on some sort of internal stop to reduce deflection.

Evo stuff - finally getting around to making the promised brake ducts, almost 10 years later…

The idea here is to machine the upper/lower adapter and 3d print the duct itself with possible a bonded metal ring for strength where the duct is clamped.

The duct is sized for a 2.5” tube and designed around clearing the OEM brembos.

Mustang upright prototype has some dirty machining but it’s ready for test fit when I get the car back. It’s got all the steel taper inserts installed and fitting great.

This is the more “street” version using stock tie rod and tension arm. Excited to test it out.
