Heading to Creede for 4th of July? Make your celebration safe, smooth and unforgettable with these 8 quick tips to do Creede right this holiday 🇺🇸
1. At 8,852', take it slow! If you're not used to the altitude give your body time to adjust - hydrate, rest, and ease into activities.
2. High temps can sneak up on you! Stay hydrated, apply sunscreen (the sun is closer than you think!), take breaks in the shade, and don't overdo it during peak heat hours.
3. Public restrooms will be located in Basham Park in town, the Creede Underground Mining Museum, and Ed Hargraves Park/Baseball Field. Basham Park restrooms will be ladies only, while porta johns will be available near our Days of '92 arena for ladies and gents.
4. Expect heavy traffic in town. Stay patient, be kind, and drive with understanding. We're all here to enjoy the experience!
5. Parking is LIMITED in town! Consider carpooling, using our FREE shuttle service, or parking out of town and walking in. FREE parking will be available in the dirt lot off of Corsair Drive and the Fairgrounds upper parking lot. From there, you can take the shuttle right into town. A little planning goes a long way!
6. OHV's are prohibited on Main Street. Creede has a designated OHV route. July 3rd-5th use Loma St, 5th St, and La Garita only to access the gas station. Please follow the designated route and other OHV rules.
7. There will be some amazing art and food vendors in the lot south of the Kentucky Belle Grocery on July 4th from 8am-5pm. Take advantage of these fun eats and don't forget to support our local businesses, too!
8. PLEASE don't use personal fireworks. Our dry conditions make it a serious fire risk. There may be fireworks at Mountain Views RV Park - but it will depend on if there are any fire restrictions at the time. Plan to enjoy our Glow Party in Basham Park from 8pm-10pm with glow sticks, food, a beer garden and more!
Let's keep Creede safe for everyone and enjoy this beautiful holiday weekend! Please also follow and visit City of Creede, A Colorado Town for the details on shuttle info, parking info, street closures and emergency announcements.
Let's make it a great 4th!
