Finally got the heads off Shell Shocked. One piston is completely melted and another started melting around the edge—but somehow the block still looks usable and turns over by hand.
Do I give it the old dingle-ball rebuild, throw two rods and pistons in it and send it a few more times? Or put everything toward the stronger 5.3 being planned for next season? 😂 What would you do?

Summernats wasn’t just another burnout event for me.

Last time Shell Shocked made it there, it never even left the trailer. This time was about going back, unloading, making smoke, and proving this truck wasn’t just a trailer ornament anymore.

Y’all have seen clips here and there, but this is the whole story with Shell Shocked. Getting the truck ready, towing to Indy, unloading after last time it never left the trailer, the burnout runs, the problems, finals, and everything in between.

It’s not perfect, but I’ve put a lot of time into this video over the past couple weeks, and I’m excited for everybody to finally see the full journey.

I fixed a Ford and got paid with this GMC Jimmy 😂 Now we’re finding out if I made a good trade—or brought home somebody else’s headache.

I was told it might need a head gasket, but the cooling system is packed with copper flakes and “mechanic in a bottle.” Before tearing into the engine, we’re investigating the radiator.

The last trade series ended with my service truck. Let’s see where this one goes 👀

I finally pulled Shell Shocked apart, and I need some experienced opinions.

I’ve spent more than four years beating on this truck. I’ve bent rods, bent pushrods, spun bearings and broken plenty of parts—but I’ve never seen a failure like this.

The injectors have been in the setup for four years and were recently cleaned and flow-matched. The cooling system has also survived years of burnouts and even daily driving. The only major engine-related variable that recently changed was the tune.

That doesn’t automatically prove what caused the failure, so I’m asking experienced engine builders and tuners: What does the physical damage suggest? Detonation, a lean cylinder, excessive timing, heat or something else?

I’m looking for evidence-based opinions and recommendations on what I should inspect or measure next.

No wheels. No smooth shop floor required. Just roll it out, slide under the truck, move where you need to, wipe it down, and roll it back up.
If you work on cars in driveways, gravel, grass, or dirt, this style of creeper starts making a whole lot of sense. 😂
