This week marks the next step in the journey to becoming a firefighter with the City of Covington Fire Department.

Our Physical Agility Test kicked things off today, followed by panel interviews over the next two days, written testing on Thursday, and Chief interviews on Friday.

RECRUIT UPDATE!

Today was a big day for our recruits as they completed their first Live Fire Training.

This training gave them the opportunity to put their skills to work in a realistic environment while building confidence, teamwork, and experience. They rose to the challenge and showed tremendous growth throughout the day.

Yesterday, members of the Covington Fire Department administration attended the quarterly meeting of the Georgia Association for Fire Accreditation and Professional Credentialing, hosted by DeKalb County Fire Rescue.

The meeting included an educational session focused on effectively engaging subject matter experts during the development of an agency's Self-Assessment Manual. Participants also had the opportunity to hear from a representative of the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE), who led a roundtable discussion covering agency successes and challenges, health and wellness program documentation and initiatives, and important CPSE updates.

Representatives from eight fire departments were in attendance, each at different stages of the accreditation process. The meeting provided a valuable opportunity for networking, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas and best practices among agencies committed to continuous improvement and professional excellence.

CFD remains dedicated to pursuing excellence through accreditation and professional development as we continue to serve the citizens of Covington.
