Have a teen driver? This one's for you! ๐
Three Honda models, including the all-new 2026 Passport and over a decade of Civic and Accord models, have been recommended for teen drivers by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and Consumer Reports (CR). The 2026 Honda Passport is recommended as a new vehicle for a teen driver. For consumers shopping used vehicles that offer good crash protection and are suitable for teen drivers, IIHS and CR recommend Honda Civic coupe or sedan models from 2014-2025, which can start under $10,000, and Honda Accord sedan models from 2013-2025 (including hybrids from 2014-2025), which can start under $20,000.
IIHS and CR jointly produce the annual list of teen vehicles to assist families shopping for a car that can help keep a new driver safe. All vehicles on the list earned scores of average or better from CR for braking, and for emergency and routine handling. Usability is also considered, and models with the most confusing and distracting controls and displays are excluded.
Recommended vehicles also provide strong protection in a crash, based on IIHS testing. The all-new 2026 Passport earned the pinnacle TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating from IIHS and Safety Verdict of Best from CR.
