A lot can change in a few months.
What started as an idea turned into Rock Cut Auto.
We built RCA from the ground up. We learned as we went, took risks, made plenty of mistakes, adapted, and ultimately built something we were incredibly proud of. We sold hundreds of vehicles, expanded into service, detailing, undercoating and rentals, built an amazing customer base, and earned recognition along the way including Best Auto Dealer in the Back Mountain and Northeast PA.
Most importantly, we proved to ourselves that we could build something from nothing.
Then came something we definitely didn’t have in the business plan: eminent domain.
The property was acquired for a PennDOT project, and after years of building RCA, we had to move out.
It was bittersweet, but it also gave us a rare opportunity, a chance to cash out, slow down for a minute, look at everything we had built, and decide what we wanted the next chapter to look like.
So that’s what we did.
We had a relaxed but somehow still very busy summer. We spent more time with my family, delegated the car rental business, explored different opportunities, and really thought about what we wanted to do next.
Turns out, we weren’t ready to stop building.
We’re excited to officially share the next chapter:
Highland Motors Corp.
Charley and I are bringing everything we learned from Rock Cut Auto into this new venture, and this time we’re joined by a new business partner, Jamie.
New name. New business. New partnership. New facility. Better inventory. Bigger vision.
Over the last several weeks, we’ve been taking an already great facility and making it ours, cleaning it up, getting it dealer-ready, installing equipment, adding displays, signage and all the little touches that turn a building into a dealership we’re proud to put our name on.
Now we’re waiting on our dealer license and getting everything in place for the official start.
And this time, we want to document the journey.
The behind-the-scenes work. The decisions. The inventory. The wins. The setbacks. The funny moments. The mistakes. And hopefully, a whole lot of growth.
We’re not starting from zero this time.
We’re starting with years of experience, relationships, lessons learned, and a much clearer vision of the kind of dealership we want to build.
Rock Cut Auto will always be a chapter we’re incredibly proud of. It opened a lot of doors, taught us more than we could have imagined, and ultimately put us in the position to take this next step.
It wasn’t the end of the story.
It was what prepared us for the next one.
Highland Motors Corp.
New business. New adventures.
Let’s see where this one takes us. 🐮🔑
