A 2018 L5P showed up with a check engine light and reduced engine power. The customer was traveling back to Wyoming when they ran into the issue. Scanning it revealed a cylinder #5 injector control circuit fault—a common problem where the injector pigtail ends up being the issue.

We opened up the passenger-side injector harness, removed the bad #5 injector connector, installed a new pigtail, and repaired and protected the wiring before putting everything back together.

Once finished, the injector circuit tested good, misfire counts remained at zero, and the truck completed its test drive without any codes returning.

While it isn’t always a quick in-and-out repair like this, it’s nice when we’re able to take care of the problem, get the customer back on the road, and help them continue their journey home to Wyoming.

Fixing the problem is only part of doing the job right. Wiring repairs should be properly protected, secured, and finished clean enough that when everything is back together, you can’t even tell anyone was ever in there.

Clifford made another trip to a car show this weekend… and came home with some hardware. Not bad for a truck that still isn’t finished.

We braved the heat last night at Adams County Speedway for Salute to Truckers night! Kevin started 7th in his heat, finishing 2nd.

Started 11th in the feature but got a little too excited & spun out early in the race, sending him to the back. Luckily from there he was able to make his way through the pack & salvage a 4th place finish. Congrats to Kyle Tanner on his win!!

Nothing like the car really coming to life at the end of the season, but we’ll see what we can get done the next few weeks!

Best of Council Bluffs voting starts September 23rd, and this year Midwest Dieselwerks is going to be in the running!

When voting opens on September 23rd, we’ll be sharing the link and asking for your support. Until then, we just wanted to give everyone a heads-up and let you know that we’re going for it.

Midwest Dieselwerks is excited to be installing the new Fleece Performance Engineering grid heater delete and intake elbow on this 2022 Ram 5500 for Mitchell Tibbitts, owner of Tibbz Towing!

While it’s here, we’re also giving the truck a complete service, including all fluids and filters, to make sure it’s ready to keep working.

One thing we really appreciate about Tibbz Towing is how seriously they take care of their equipment. These trucks work hard every day, and they understand that staying ahead on maintenance and investing in quality upgrades is a whole lot cheaper than dealing with downtime when a truck is supposed to be making money.

We appreciate Tibbz Towing continuing to trust Midwest Dieselwerks with their fleet. We’re proud to help keep their trucks maintained, upgraded, and ready to work.

Tonight was a pretty damn big milestone for Clifford.

For the first time in two years, Clifford moved under its own power out of the garage and loaded onto the trailer. After everything this truck has been through, driving it out of the shop under its own power was a moment I’ve been waiting a long time for.

Is it finished? Not even close. There’s still plenty of work ahead, plenty to button up, and a whole lot more planned.

But tomorrow, Clifford is making its first public debut since the rebuild began at the Veteran Memorial Car Show at VFW Post 11355 in Council Bluffs.

It seems fitting that the first show we’re taking him to is one where all proceeds go to veterans.

No fancy video. No big write-up. Just the raw sound of Clifford coming back to life.

There are a LOT of people to thank and a whole lot more details coming soon.

But for tonight, there’s only one thing that matters:

IT RUNS.

Looking for a transmission wiring harness for a 2018 Ram 4500 with a manual-shift transfer case.

Truck had a driveshaft failure that ripped the transmission wiring out, and unfortunately none of the connectors are left, so repairing the existing harness isn’t really an option.

I do have the OEM part number: 68339835AE, but unfortunately it has been discontinued by Ram and is no longer available new.

Looking for a complete harness with all connectors/pigtails intact. Used, take-off, NOS, or a good lead on where to find one would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has one sitting around, knows of a truck being parted out, or has any leads, please let me know. Thanks!
