We spent many long days and nights getting Mater finished up and ready to head to Route 66. We got his bumper and his new eyes put on, the fuel tank in and hooked up, wiring finished up enough to make run, new beacon light mounted and wired up, his mouth (courtesy of Tony and Rhonda D. Kierpiec), new side rearview mirrors, and the fresh upholstered seat from Salty South Upholstery mounted inside.

We even drove Mater across the street to fill his tank and then loaded him up onto the trailer (See next post for a video!)

We took off and started heading to meet the Great American Road Rally TV Show crew on Route 66 and unfortunately 2 hours into our trip, our truck hauling Mater started having transmission issues. (We will be posting a video of what was going on in the next post)

It was with a heavy heart that we called off trying to push across the country, thank goodness we didn’t get halfway across and it totally go out on us. We hope that everyone can understand and respect this decision. But we made it back safely with Mater.

We hate to give this bad news after all the work we’ve put in and all the support and help we’ve received, but stay tuned because the tv show producer offered us a spot in season 2 of the show. So we will continue to work on Mater to make him even more ready for season 2 and for our local car shows Meals, Wheels, & Deals and Cartoberfest coming up!!

We do not give up easily, we will prevail!

Next place we stopped at in Vegas this past weekend was Count's Kustoms from the TV show Counting Cars!

Pretty cool shop to stop by and see some of the cool cars and bikes they’ve built! H***y Mike’s bike is definitely a crazy bike to see in person!

They also do some crazy awesome paint jobs on some of their projects which was cool to see the fine details in their work in person!

The Baer family made it out to Las Vegas this past weekend, our first stop was one of our favorites! Shelby American!! 🐍🐍🐍

So cool to see a couple of Carroll Shelby’s Cobras and several of the Shelby Mustangs, Cobras, a Daytona, and Ford GT’s they have built!

We even got to make our mark on the wall in the shop that builds and/or upgrades Ford F150s and Mustangs with Shelby components!! We made it so all can see it, who look through the window.

Big news everyone! The Baer family is still gonna fly out (unfortunately without Tow Mater) to the final car show of the Great American Road Rally since we had already booked our rooms out there in Las Vegas!!

We will try to touch bases with the producer to lock in Tow Mater’s spot for season 2 of the show. So our RC's Service Station shop will be closed for a few days. We apologize for any inconvenience, wish us luck and safe travels.
