Lots going on in the shop!

If you notice your diesel isn't getting up to temp, get that thermostat replaced right away! An engine running cooler than specified, like this BMW X5 was with the thermostat stuck open, will affect EGR and fuel injection rates, which will affect NOx levels that the SCR system has to convert. In this case, the SCR mixer clogged, which prevented the ammonia (DEF) from being dispersed into the exhaust path correctly, causing an engine fault. We replaced the thermostat and cleaned the SCR mixer, and the car was good to go!

Second notable car in the shop was a Porsche Panamera 3.6l with an engine tick during low RPM acceleration. Turns out that it needed a timing refresh as the chain had stretched and tensioners, which were starting to fail, couldn't provide enough force to keep it taut, causing it to rattle. We're fitting a complete timing chain kit with chain, tensioners, guides to make sure this Panamera has a long and wonderful life.

We've seen multiple Porsche Cayennes (92A/958s) recently with transfer case failures. Symptoms include vibration, binding and jerkiness from the drivetrain, especially on acceleration. Checking fluid usually confirms flakes or chunks of metal, and burnt or black fluid. This transfer case has been revised by Porsche multiple times. If you're experiencing these symptoms, give us a call today. The most recent revision is in stock with Porsche locally, and we can get you back on the road quickly!
