I’m going to get backlash but it’s just an opinion! I’m a fan of the rest of the Wally product.
For these WHY (Wally hybrid yacht) models it almost feels like the design team went to the board at Ferretti group with an April Fools design and the board all looked at each other and said “ehh WHY not ??” And that’s how the name came to be!

Some positives of these models: very large internal volume (the lack of side walkways allows for this).
Very nice entertainment layout combining the aft deck with the main saloon if you’re able to have the doors wide open on a nice day.

The US duty you or the original owner skipped years ago was 1.5% for the most part. What its costing you today is 10 to 15%.
Here’s why. Most American buyers now have to account for the US duty that was never paid
on your boat — often north of 10% of the boat’s value today. So they discount your boat, or
they buy the one that already has duty paid. You absorb the gap.

That gap only exists for the American buyer. Offer the same boat to a foreign buyer — even
one who’ll spend time in the US — and, kept under its foreign flag, the boat fits within market just as any of the others. The larger the boat, the easier.
That’s the buyer we bring. A lot of our clients aren’t American, which is exactly why a foreign
flag transacts cleanly for us.

There’s a story many first-time buyers hear: put the yacht in charter and it pays for itself. It doesn’t.
Depending on the boat and the year, a 50 meter charters anywhere from under $200k a week to close to $350k, But you’re not usually booking the entire calendar— eight
weeks is a very good year. Roughly twenty percent comes off the top in commission. To charter legally, the boat has to be commercially registered and crewed to a higher standard, and that cost runs all year. Every charter week also adds wear you settle up for at the next refit.
Even in a strong year, charter might offset close to half your annual operating cost. It doesn’t
cover the rest, and it never touches depreciation.
Charter is rarely a business. It’s a discount on a boat you were always going to have in operation. Buy the
yacht for the use, and let charter soften the running cost.

There’s a “rule” that I’ve been hearing for years and years that a superyacht costs about 10% of its value a year to run. It’s false, and it’s most wrong on the boats that look like a bargain.
Operating cost follows the boat — her size, her systems, her crew. It does not follow the purchase price.

The lesson: budget the running cost off the boat, not off what you paid for it. The older, cheaper yacht can cost exactly as much to run as the newer one — sometimes more.

Two 50meter yachts can carry the same length and General Arrangement on paper and still be completely different in many ways. Here’s what actually separates them.
Volume. Gross tonnage — 350 to 500 in this class — is how the boat lives day to day, and
most buyers never give the number enough weight.
The builder, and the build. A Heesen holds its value better than a Baglietto does.
And what she’s made of matters too — a steel hull tends to resell better than aluminum. Same length, same year, very different outcomes.
Condition. Has the yacht held in-class status the whole time? Are the service books documented? Have the big-ticket refit items been done recently? Paint, AV and IT, machinery etc or are they coming due on your dime?

That’s why boats in this range look so similar on
paper and price out completely different in reality.
