After a busy season, we are catching up on posting various jobs and plan to periodically include informational posts on some of the most common calls we get from prospective customers. These are intended to help you decide on modifications you would like done to your truck.
2001-2016 duramaxs do not have a factory lift pump. The injection pump has to create a vacuum to suck fuel from the tank to supply itself. A FASS lift pump will supply the injection pump with non-aerated and exta filtrated fuel. It is proven to help prolong the life of the injection pump and injectors, especially for LB7s with known injector issues and LMLs with CP4 issues. We highly recommend these FASS lift pumps to any duramax owner, whether the truck is stock or modified.
We install a sump with the FASS to prevent trucks from starving for fuel at a quarter tank. The sump with a fuel return prevents from having to cut the factory filler neck to plumb in the return from the FASS, which can allow another spot for a fuel leak to occur and issue with fuel pumps “clicking off” when refueling.
